The View HALLOWEEN: Over the Years: Joy Behar and Barbara Walters

Posted by PicasaI adore The View, and every year, look forward to what the hosts will wear for their Halloween Show. Above, Joy Behar and Barbara Walters are Tippi Hedren in The Birds and Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Top right is Joy as a Morticia Addams type ghoul, Barbara as a Vampiress, and Barbara (below) as George Washington.

DOVIMA: THE GREAT 50's SUPERMODEL: Post 5: EXTREME LUXURY

After her death at 62 in 1990, Richard Avedon said "She was the last of the great elegant, aristocratic beauties..... the most remarkable and unconventional beauty of her time"

DOVIMA: THE GREAT 50's SUPERMODEL: Post 3: AVEDON: FUNNY FACE: DALI

Posted by Picasa The great supermodel of the 50's Dovima, belonged to that Haute Couture world of the high 50's extreme fashion mannequin. Hers was an era of taste,  quality and elegance...of austerity binge. She appeared as the startlingly thin model in Funny Face with Audrey Hepburn.....speaking in an hysterical Jackson Heights whine.  She played the role as a dizzy model who had never read a book, let alone been in a bookstore. Dovima's waspish curved eyebrows and sharp features are forever immortalized by Avedon and his elephants....She was an extreme unobtainable aristocratic beauty, like Marlene Dietrich and Snow White's Wicked Queen before her. One of the top models of all time, because she was unique.
